We wanted to have Jessica, Joe and their baby Emma over. Joe is a professional cook and wanted to try the Egg. Ferris who was staying with us was in town for an arts conference. Since Jessica is an artist, it seemed a perfect time to get everyone together. We also invited Billy and Kevin to join us.

We were worried about the weather since it had been raining and cold, but luckily it was a good night to grill.

We started off with Hummus and Chips from Joan’s on Third. They make the best! We also had cheeses from the Cheese Store of Silverlake.

We started with Matt’s great Squash and Faro Soup. It is exceptional, we really like the chewiness of the faro in the soup. I previously posted the recipe in the blog of Jan. 15, 2009. Click the date to see the recipe.

We then had Honey-Cured, Smoked Salmon and Sticky Rice. The Smoked Salmon recipe can be found in the blog of Jan. 15, 2009. Click the date to see the recipe.

Billy introduced us to his version of Sticky Rice and we love it. It is easy to make in rice cooker. Billy had us modify the recipe, we leave out the dried shrimp, water and oil and use a can of chicken stock instead, in addition we add oyster sauce. This is a great recipe and went well with the salmon. The recipe can be found in our blog of Feb 7, 2009. Click the date to get the recipe.

Joe brought a Strawberry Rhubarb Crisp that he had baked. He didn’t know it but Rhubarb makes my favorite pie or crisp. I was in heaven!
